Summer Interns Employed at Two Newpark Laboratories

- continued -

Ryan MacLeod, Baylor University in Waco, Texas, Sociology, Biology Program: My plan for the future is to attend law school beginning in Fall 2007. My interests in law are health and patent law.

While working in the lab, I have learned how to complete all of the oil-based and water-based mud checks, run the Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrophotometer (FTIR), lubricity tests, permeability plugging tests (PPT) and other lab operations. Newpark Laboratory is a great place to gain hands on knowledge. The lab offers interns a chance to first learn the basic operations within the lab, and then allows interns the chance to go further with research. Every day that I walk out of the lab, I have gained knowledge that will prepare me for my future.

Stephen Olutimayin, University of Texas at Austin, Master Program in Petroleum Engineering. My plan for the future is after graduation, to join a major oil company as production or drilling engineer.

What I have been doing:
1. Evaluation of drilling fluids quality using downhole simulator
2. Various laboratory tests on drilling fluids
3. Performing QA/QC evaluations of drilling fluids
4. Being part of the team that performs support services to field engineers

What I like about Newpark:
Newpark is the most friendly working environent that I have ever worked. The set up is such that working in Newpark is fun.
